Samsung Unveils their New Galaxy S7

Samsung announced the release of their new phones Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. On Sunday the 21^st February 2016, Samsung publicized the long waited specifications of Samsung Galaxy S7 at the Barcelona Conference with the presence of Mark Zuckerburg – Executive Director of Facebook.

Before listing the features of Galaxy S7, we must note that Mark Zuckerburg had a big surprise for everyone at the conference as he announced that Facebook and Samsung will start working together to create the Gear VR so that it can be available for sale. Samsung stated the main specifications of Galaxy S7 which included being water and dust resistant. Thus, you no longer have to worry about putting the phone on damp surfaces and dropping it in water as it can be 1.5m deep for 30 minutes.

What is new in Samsung Galaxy S7?

Generally, Samsung improved the edges, curves, and reduced rear camera bulge to suit hand grip for easier use. The S7 dimensions are: 142mm length, 69.6mm width, and 7.9mm thick weighing 152 grams.

It also has a 5.1 inch screen with a resolution of 2560x1440 pixels made from the Super AMOLED touchscreen covered in a layer of the scratch and break resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The Galaxy S7 will be available in the following colors: white,black, gold, and silver.

What about Galaxy S7 system specifications?

Samsung upgraded the phone’s technology for better performance and is releasing Galaxy S7 with two different processors depending on the market and service provider: Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 820 and Exynos 8890.

The first type, operating on a quad core Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 820, is divided into two dual processors one working on a speed of 2.15 gigahertz and the other on a 1.6 gigahertz. The second type will be an eight core Exynos 8890 divided into two quad processors, one working on 2.3 gigahertz and the other on 1.6 gigahertz.

Samsung stated that Galaxy S7 will have 30% better performance than their previous release, Galaxy S6. Samsung team also added a cooling system to the phone to prevent heat increases when playing games.

It is available in two internal storages: 32GB and 64GB with the ability to add an additional memory card (up to 200GB) and a 4GB RAM.

The S7 has a main (rear) camera with a resolution of 12 megapixels, f/1.7 lens aperture. The front camera has a resolution of 5 megapixels as well as a f/1.7 lens aperture. What is new is that the main camera operates on a Dual Pixel for clearer pictures in dim light.

The battery was updated to a 3000 mAh to last longer.

A stylish phone, with high-tech specifications, new camera option, water resistant, and an additional memory card, are the summary of specifications for the Galaxy S7.

New features also include Always-on Display and TouchWiz UI that allows users to get notifications, time and date without touching the screen, fast charging (83% in half an hour), wireless charging, and editing and publishing texts, documents, pictures and videos.

It operates on a 6.0 Android version (Marshmallow).

The company’s spokesperson stated that Samsung still “believes in a world brighter, clearer, more suitable, and fun”, which the company translated into the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, based on the news reports after the press conference.

The price is still unconfirmed, but anonymous resources leaked that the price before taxes will be accordingly: 650 USD in America (461 JODs) for the 32GB, and 750 USD (532 JOD’s) for the 64GB.

Samsung will start receiving orders for Galaxy S7 on Monday the 22^nd February 2016, and the phone will be available in the market by mid Match 2016.
